Foreign cyclists visit Iran’s famous sites

Cycle tourists from Europe have made Iran a top destination spot on their visit around Eurasia.

Tourists from Germany and France in particular make up a big share of foreigners who visited the northern province of Gilan in Iran this year.

Moreover, the World Economic Forum (WEF) recently reported that for a third straight year, Iran's tourism industry has the most affordable prices for foreign visitors in the world.

Iran tourism is more cost-effective than tourist destinations such as Egypt, Malaysia, Russia, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Italy, France and the US, which would make it an added attraction on any cyclist’s itinerary in the Asian continent.

Considering numerous natural beauties, deeply-rooted-in-time history and culture, and an abundance of tourist sites, Iran seeks to acquire greater share of the global tourism industry.

In October 2016, Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization announced that foreign tourist arrivals in Iran have more than doubled that of the global average since the implementation of the nuclear deal or so-called JCPOA.

Cyclists and other eco-tourists visiting Iran will be glad to know that the number of quality eco-lodges in the country has markedly increased over a factor of 15-fold from 30 to over 500 since 2013.

The northern province of Gilan is situated along the coastline of the Caspian Sea, offering prime examples of natural arboreal forests, medieval historical abodes, diverse cultures and scenic pathways for the cycling enthusiast.
